- The Los Angeles Business Journal published a well argued piece on why arguments against sharing the road ought to not be driving the discussion any more. The piece dismantles the four biggest myths about bicyclists. (via biccontrol)

Bike the Boulevard is this coming Saturday. The bike ride will be along El Cajon Boulevard and will have multiple stop at various businesses on the Boulevard. Ride starts at noon at Till Two Club with a Kick-off Party and a free barbecue. As of this writing 167 people have signed up to ride and immerse themselves in all that El Cajon Boulevard has to offer, including art, food and fun.
- The U.S. Department of Transportation Secretary, Ray LaHood, is spearheading a campign to reduce trips taken by car that are 2 miles or less, by encouraging and motivating people to walk, bike or take public transit and thus reduce 90% of all automobile trips.
- As mentioned earlier this month, The League of American Bicyclists has joined forces with the American Automobile Association (AAA) to commit to educating motorists about bicyclists’ rights to the road.
- On a related note, a local petition to allow bicyclists and pedestrians on the Coronado Bridge is gathering steam. Currently, the only way for a pedestrian or a bicyclist to reach Coronado from the City of San Diego is either a 15 minute by the ferry which runs only until 9PM, or a long bicycle ride to Imperial Beach and then up the strand which is over 20 miles.
- Since Bike to Work Day is coming up , I should mention all the pitstops that will be encouraging any first and long time riders this Friday. SANDAG’s website has a map and more details of all that pertains to Bike to Work Day.
- New bike lanes have been spotted on Park Boulevard from Robinson Avenue to Upas Street. Have you seen any more new bike lanes or sharrows or even new bike parking racks? Are cycle tracks next?
