This Friday: Park(ing) Day

This year’s Park(ing) Day will be celebrated at at least three venues. What is Park(ing) Day?

PARK(ing) Day is an annual worldwide event where artists, designers and citizens transform metered parking spots into temporary public parks.

This Friday, I know of at least three venues that will be celebrating Park(ing) Day:
1. In front of Blind Lady Ale House from noon to 6PM

2. In City Heights by Fairmount and University Avenue from 2pm to 7pm.

3. In front of Sea Rocket Bistro on 30th and Upas all day.

Do you know of other venues where Park(ing) Day will be celebrated? Drop me a note at sam@BikeSD.org.

On a related note, the San Diego Urbanist is a new local tactical group has sprung up ready to tackle some of the city’s pressing land use problems. Their motto is:

Engaging our City in a grass-roots, street scaled, tactical manner in order to improve the local quality of life without waiting for anyone to give us the permission and a permit.

Having attended their first meetup, I can state with confidence that this group brings an unparalleled brilliant outlook on our city’s problems and share a very healthy love for some of San Diego’s finest brews. Keep an eye out for their next meetup which is sure to both delight and inspire.
