New Buffered Bike Lanes on Genesse Avenue

The new buffered bike lanes are short, but welcome.

Thanks to BikeSD member Dan Ponce for noticing (and appreciating) the extra room that has made his commute that much safer and more comfortable. Ponce noticed them yesterday and stated that these new buffered bike lanes go from La Jolla Village Dr to Nobel Dr.

Dan Ponce is a proud BikeSD member

Dan goes on to state:

I’m a sticker-displaying proud member of BikeSD (see photo).

When I started driving, San Diego County had empty tree-lined country roads without double-yellow lines distracting from the experience. It was a pleasure to drive my modified cars for hours. That San Diego no longer exists. The present day congestion not only takes the joy out of driving; it’s stressful. Mountain biking at lunch helped with the stress, but driving was still wasted time. When I worked out how I could commute everyday on my modified bike, my joy returned.

I want to see the congestion eased in San Diego. I want everyone I love to be able to walk, ride, and drive and make it back home. I want to see Vision-Zero implemented. I don’t want commuting to be stressful. I don’t want to be cut off by drivers who want to turn right but instead end up unproductively blocking the bike lane. I don’t want to be knocked off my bike for four months again.

Thank you Dan, for being an incredibly supportive member and for being a voice for all modes of tranportation.
