Congressional Candidate David Secor’s Views on Bicycling

David Secor who is currently running for the 50th Congressional District against Duncan Hunter sent us his thoughts on bicycling which we’ve posted (in part) below.

I am a committed advocate of bicycling and bicycling infrastructure […], as well as safe walkways for schoolkids.  As one who biked to work 4 miles up and down hills on a busy highway and who biked when working downtown, I will work toward seeing that any new transportation bill dramatically increase funding for both quality bike paths and quality walkways.  More workers will use bikes when we build paths that are safe. I see both riding and walking as great ways to improve both physical and mental health, a greater appreciation for the importance of environmental quality, and reduced fuel usage.  Building bike paths and walkways will also create many thousands of jobs.
As you know, Duncan Hunter has said that bike paths are unconstitutional and is bought and paid for by Big Oil, as his opposition to solar also shows.
