Join Us For Our Second Bike Camping Event!

We had a very successful first bike camping event last month, from Teralta Park to Point Loma. Learned a lot about the basics and now we are ready to start exploring. Join us this month as we go from Balboa Park down to the brand new Tijuana River Valley Regional Park Campground. Set below Spooner’s Mesa – roughly a mile south of the Tijuana River and east of the Pacific Ocean – this unique 79-acre campground offers breathtaking views of the valley, with connections to over 20 miles of trails enjoyed by hikers, bikers and equestrians.

June 19th at 1pm

We are shifting locations and staring off at Balboa park at the Bea Evenson Fountain at 1pm. We are biking through downtown San Diego and will be going through the new bike lanes opened up on Broadway street in Chula Vista.  After setting up camp we can explore the beautiful trails in the area, check out the ocean, and maybe catch the sunset off IB pier. We will be returning to Balboa Park the following day by 1pm.

2021 Ride of Silence

San Diego's annual Ride of Silence is a solemn group ride to honor those injured or killed while biking. This ride has reached a global scale that now takes place in over 20 countries on the third Wednesday in May, with thousands of people riding their bikes to remember, support each other, and heal collectively.

This ride is a no-drop yet silent group ride that is appropriate for all ages and abilities. During the ride, we will stop to lay flowers and observe a moment of silence at the sites of recent biking fatalities and honor those we have lost while spreading the message that people who bike represent precious lives.

While we may not know the names of everyone who was injured or killed on a bike or as a pedestrian last year, we are all deeply affected when we lose someone in our community.  Together, we will ride, remember, and reflect.

WEARING A MASK IS REQUIRED!

Meet up will be at the County Administration Building Fountain on Harbor Drive, facing the water.

7:50 PM: Meet-up

8:10 PM: Roll-out

San Diego's Ride of Silence Ride should take around 2 hours

October 17 BIPOC History Tour with BikeSD

BIPOC History Ride - October 17th at 9 am

Introduction

Welcome to the BikeSD hosted, San Diego BIPOC History Ride. You will ride with members of BikeSD through San Diego, visiting historic spaces and significant sites--some of which may be familiar, and some of which you may have passed a hundred times without knowing they were there. These guides will help you navigate the city, following the route established for the BIPOC History Ride which was built in collaboration with many individuals and organizations. We aren't tour guides, just local cyclists who have volunteered to guide this group ride. The group will rely on the online tour for information and stories about the sites. Meet-up at 9 am, 9:15 am roll out and approximate completion of tour around 1 pm. The ride will stop for lunch at a local spot upon completion. We are limiting the spots to 10 people due to COVID-19. Masks are required at all times. Bring a mobile smart phone or device that can access data to follow along the online route and information.
