Mission Valley News

We have asked the city to do regular street maintenance on Friars Road, especially in the bike lanes and the protected bike lanes that begin at Sea World Drive. The city has promised to prepare a Traffic Request to evaluate the “current conditions of the path and recommending improvements, if necessary.”

Are there other issues you want addressed? Please send feedback and suggestions to talk@bikesd.org.

In bike-sharing news, some bike sharing stations have been installed in Mission Valley and the program is slated to launch (with bicycles available for riding) this month.

Serra Mesa News

This Thursday, we need you to attend the Serra Mesa Planning Group meeting. Thanks to one of our loyal readers and bike commuter, Joe Ippolito, we learned about his advocacy efforts to create a safe passage through Serra Mesa and closing a gap between the Murphy Canyon Bike Path and Ruffin Road north of Aero Drive.

Serra Mesa Planning Group Meeting

7pm-9pm
Serra Mesa-Kearny Mesa Library
9005 Aero Drive, San Diego, CA 92123

City engineers are willing to implement an (angle) parking protected bike lane on the northbound section of Ruffin Road (between  Gramercy and Aero), but need to hear from you before they will move forward on it. The Serra Mesa Community Planning Group needs to hear from you so they can vote to support this project. The alternatives proposed are below. We know many of you live and ride through this corridor so we could really use your support. RSVP on Facebook. Below are the proposed alternatives for the bike plan implementation.

Hope to see you there!
