The SANDAG Transportation Committee has direction from SANDAG executive director, Gary Gallegos, to water down the entire project to sharrows. This ignored the incredible community support for protected bike lanes in Uptown along University Avenue. Please take the time off from work and speak up for safer streets on University Ave. SANDAG is advocating for sharrows on University Ave – which does nothing for bicycle rider safety. University Ave is the deadliest street in the city of San Diego. Sharrows won’t keep you or any of us, safe. BikeSD supported a plan that the business community supports – the Frost plan called “Transform Hillcrest”. Backroom deals out of the public eye has gutted the entire 2+ years of community outreach. It is time for you to demand that your elected officials vote to spend your tax dollars wisely and not just continue to promote unhealthy lifestyles.
