The Bike Month Bash at The Lafayette Hotel will take place on Saturday, May 30th. This year’s event will draw hundreds of riders for a fun, casual bicycle ride through some of San Diego’s most historical and noteworthy Mid-City neighborhoods. The ride will start and ending at the historic Lafayette Hotel, a community minded hotel and is home to the famed Weissmuller Pool. The Bike Month Bash starts with a 15 mile ride that will take riders through North Park, City Heights, Talmadge, Rolando and the College Area.

El Cajon Boulevard is our grand boulevard. Pedestrian, bicycle, and transit infrastructure is beginning to reclaim its promise as are innovative businesses that seek viable pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure to slow down traffic and increase business as well as livability. The casual, conversation-paced ride will offer riders glimpses of a future that is vibrant, exciting and transformative. Upon completion of the course riders will enjoy a complimentary drink thanks to Sailor Jerry and The Lafayette Hotel. The Weissmuller Pool will be open to participants of the ride to cool down and riders are encouraged to bring their bathing suits to the event. Food from the Lafayette Hotel’s kitchen will be available for purchase and a live DJ will be playing music to help usher in the summer.

Event proceeds will go to BikeSD, a non-profit bicycle advocacy organization working with policy-makers, residents, and other local entities to create a more livable San Diego and, the San Diego Police Foundation, a non-profit organization that assists the San Diego Police Department advocating for better safety measures and practices in our communities.

The event route will be along El Cajon Boulevard which is predominantly flat. Ride marshals will ride alongside riders to provide a safe and non-intimidating riding experience. Any participant with a geared bike or a Deco Bike Share bike will have a great time on this course. Deco bikes will be available for participants who don’t have a bicycle but wish to participate in the ride. A portion of the ride will go along El Cajon Boulevard’s first bike lanes to expose participants to the potential that Mid-City has for multi-mobility.
