San Diego Bike Challenge: Pre-Season Signups are Open!

PFB-0307NBCWebButton440x270.pngThe National Bike Challenge has been announced and BikeSD is your local host for the challenge in the city of San Diego.

The challenge is part of the National Bike Challenge that starts on May 1, 2015 and ends on September 30, 2015.

What is the Challenge?

The National Bike Challenge is a nationwide event uniting thousands of current bicyclists—and encouraging countless new riders. It is a free and easy way to challenge yourself, your colleagues and your community to ride more while competing on a local, state and national level. We aim to unite 75,000 riders to pedal 35 million miles from May 1, 2015 until September 30, 2015.

The challenge is a way to have a friendly competition with your friends, neighbors and everyone else around the country. As of right now, we only have 184 riders signed up for the free (FREE!) challenge, and we’d like to get to 1,270 total riders. While the challenge starts in May, so far we have logged over 20,000 miles…in other words we’re just getting started with having fun. So while we’re off to a good start there is strength in numbers, so you should go ahead and sign up for the challenge and then coax some of your friends to do so as well.

When you join the National Bike Challenge with your home zip code you get counted as part of the local challenge. And while this is a friendly competition, the fact is joining the challenge shows the powers that be that there is one more voice (you!) who wants to live in a bike friendly community. While progress has been made over the last three years, much more remains to be done and so we need as many of you to sign up!

If you have questions about the challenge and want to get your community and/or business involved come to one of our free info sessions:
